Projects

A few projects done for clients in and around the South Hams area. Here are a few images and a bit of information about our projects.

Tacket Wood House

At Tacket Wood House, Kingsbridge, we were tasked with creating a simple flat landscape from existing plans which wouldn’t conceal the view of the estuary. The plans contained raised beds for flowers, patios and pathways to get around the garden, accompanied by hedge rows and shrubs to square off and complement the pathways and intersections. Plans had to comply with a Tree Protection Order conserving the tree near the estuary.

The first step to this project was to set out the groundwork using a digger and excavate the area to create a blank levelled canvas. A trench was dug to facilitate a new electricity supply from the main house to the detached garage. Sections of of the garden were then terraced off using oak sleeper edging, creating flower beds and multiple levels in the process. Horizontal slatted fencing was placed along the border of the garden to give more privacy to the new lawn. Slabs were then laid for the patios and ramps, a composite deck by the water edge was built and the pathways were filled with decorative stone. This was completed with tree planting, hedging, shrubs and new turfing throughout.

Slapton Project

This project was based in the little village of Slapton. The client's had a new patio positioned around the lower level of the house and wanted to tie this into the upper level using a pathway going through the garden.

Landscaping, terracing, and groundwork skills were utilised to create the new lawned area, composite deck and pathway. A wall made from green oak sleepers was used to retain the newly levelled lawn and also create a pathway to the rear of the house . The grounds were levelled by removing subsoil, and bringing in a fresh topsoil blend. The composite deck is covering a sewage-disposal tank so keeping the tank hidden but still accessible was a priority.
